China's share in world GDP growth will be 22.6% in the period from 2023 to 2028, India - 12.9%, while the US share will be 11.3%, the agency said, citing IMF data.

NEW YORK, 18 April. /TASS/. Since 2020, the countries of the BRICS association have been ahead of the countries of the Group of Seven (G7) in terms of their contribution to the growth of the global economy. 

As Bloomberg notes in a graph titled "Leaving the West Behind?", this year the BRICS members (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) will provide 32.1% of growth, while the G7 countries (Great Britain, Germany, Italy, Canada, France , Japan and the USA) - 29.9%.

According to the agency, at the end of 2020, the shares of both of these groups of countries in world GDP in terms of purchasing power parity were equal and amounted to 31% each. At the same time, by the end of 2028, the share of BRICS will grow to 33.6%, while for the G7 it will decrease to 27.8%.

Recently, interest in the BRICS group has increased significantly in the world. Thus, Algeria, Argentina and Iran have already applied for joining the BRICS. Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Egypt and Tunisia have declared their interest in membership in this group. Some African countries are consulting on accession.

Earlier, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Ryabkov pointed out that quick decisions regarding the expansion of the BRICS should not be expected. According to him, the BRICS participants will have to reach "an understanding on the basic parameters of expansion," and this process is "difficult and delicate."

In 2006, Brazil, Russia, India and China created the BRIC group. South Africa joined it in 2011, turning it into BRICS. South Africa will chair the BRICS in 2023.
